How much does Supabase cost? Supabase pricing starts with a $0 Free plan. As of Oct 26, 2026, Pro starts at $25 a month, Team at $599 and Enterprise is custom, and paid plans add usage charges once you pass the included quotas. Below are the free tier limits, the pause rule that catches people before a launch, what grows a bill, and three worked estimates with the math shown.
By Gary, Greenlight My App · Updated Oct 26, 2026 · How we checked this: every price and limit comes from supabase.com/pricing (external), captured Oct 26, 2026 at 6:52 AM ET with no sign-in, and from Supabase's billing, cost-control and project-pausing docs read the same morning. The three cost examples are our own estimates from those numbers, not quotes. We didn't change any plan or spend anything. Drafted with AI tools and reviewed by a person before publishing.
How does Supabase pricing work?
Supabase pricing has a free plan, then a paid plan per organization plus usage-based charges. Each plan includes quotas for things like egress, storage and monthly active users. Stay inside them and you pay the plan price; go over on Pro and you pay per unit for the extra. Compute is billed separately.
Three ideas explain most Supabase cost questions:
- You pay per organization, not per project. Supabase's billing docs (external) say "Supabase bills separately for each organization," and the plan applies to every project in it. You can't mix Free and Pro projects in one organization.
- Quotas are shared across the organization. The docs say the quota "is applied to your entire organization, independent of how many projects you launch within that organization." Usage is summed into one monthly invoice.
- Compute is separate from usage. Each project runs its own Postgres server, and "You are charged for the Compute resources of that server, independent of your database usage." Paid plans include $10/month in compute credits, which the pricing page says covers one Micro instance.

Supabase plans compared (as of Oct 26, 2026)
As of Oct 26, 2026, Supabase lists four plans: Free at $0 a month, Pro from $25 a month, Team from $599 a month and Enterprise at a custom price. Pro and Team include the first project, with more projects from $10 a month. Usage above each plan's quotas is billed on top.
| Plan | Monthly price (as of Oct 26, 2026) | Key limits listed | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 500 MB database, 5 GB egress, 1 GB files, 50,000 MAU, 2 active projects, pauses after 1 week inactive | Learning, prototypes, side projects |
| Pro | From $25 ("First project included. Additional projects from $10/mo.") | 100,000 MAU, 8 GB disk per project, 250 GB egress, 100 GB files, then usage pricing; never paused | Launched apps with real users |
| Team | From $599 | Everything in Pro plus team features listed on the page; never paused | Companies that need team controls |
| Enterprise | Custom | Set with Supabase | Large workloads |

Pro usage prices above the included quotas, as listed on Oct 26, 2026:
| Usage item | Included on Pro | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly active users | 100,000 | $0.00325 per MAU |
| Disk | 8 GB per project | $0.125 per GB |
| Egress | 250 GB | $0.09 per GB |
| Cached egress | 250 GB | $0.03 per GB |
| File storage | 100 GB | $0.0213 per GB |
| Edge Function invocations | 2 million | $2 per million |
| Realtime messages | 5 million | $2.50 per million |
| Compute | $10/month credit (covers one Micro) | Micro $10, Small $15, Medium $60, Large $110, and up; billed hourly |
What does the Supabase free tier include?
As of Oct 26, 2026, the Supabase free tier includes a 500 MB database, 5 GB egress plus 5 GB cached egress, 1 GB file storage, 50,000 monthly active users, 500,000 Edge Function invocations and unlimited API requests, across up to 2 active projects. So yes, Supabase is free to start.
The free tier limits, as listed on the pricing page on Oct 26, 2026:
- Projects: "Limit of 2 active projects." Supabase's billing docs add that this counts across every organization where you're an Owner or Administrator, and paused projects don't count.
- Database size: 500 MB, on shared CPU with 500 MB RAM.
- Egress: 5 GB, plus 5 GB cached egress.
- File storage: 1 GB.
- Monthly active users: 50,000.
- Edge Functions: 500,000 invocations.
- Realtime: 200 concurrent peak connections, 2 million messages a month.
- API requests: "Unlimited API requests."
- Pausing: "Free projects are paused after 1 week of inactivity."
Is Supabase free for a real app? For a small one, often yes. The limit most apps notice is the 500 MB database or the pause rule, not the request count.

Do free Supabase projects pause?
Yes. Supabase's docs say it pauses Free plan projects that show low activity over a 7-day period, and the pricing page says free projects pause after 1 week of inactivity. You get a warning email roughly a week before, and you can restore a paused project for up to 1 year.
From Supabase's project pausing docs (external), read Oct 26, 2026:
- A Free project counts as inactive if it "does not receive sufficient user database activity over the past week." The docs say "a few user requests to the database each day over the previous week" is typically enough to avoid a pause.
- You get "a warning email roughly one week before the pause takes effect."
- You can restore a paused project "for up to 1 year after it was paused," from the dashboard.
- Projects on a paid plan aren't paused. The billing docs say "no projects in your Pro Plan organization will be paused."

Why this matters right before a launch: a demo project you built two weeks ago and haven't touched may be paused on launch day. To your users, a paused backend looks like an outage. If your app suddenly can't reach its database, check the project's status before you debug anything else; our guide to whether Supabase is down (external) walks through telling an outage from your own setup.
What makes a Supabase bill go up?
On Pro, five things grow the bill: the plan base price, compute size, egress, storage (database disk and files) and monthly active users, plus extras like add-ons. Compute is billed hourly per project. Usage is charged per unit once you pass the plan's included quota.
What grows a Supabase bill, with the free-tier ceiling. Prices as of Oct 26, 2026. Original diagram by Greenlight My App.
Each driver, in plain words (prices as of Oct 26, 2026):
- Compute. Each project runs on its own server. Micro is $10 a month, Small $15, Medium $60, Large $110, and paid plans get $10 a month in credits. Two Micro projects on Pro means one is covered and one isn't.
- Egress. Data leaving Supabase to your users. Pro includes 250 GB, then $0.09 per GB. Large images and big unpaginated queries add up here.
- Storage. Database disk (8 GB per project on Pro, then $0.125 per GB) and file storage (100 GB, then $0.0213 per GB). Supabase storage pricing is cheap per GB; egress from serving those files usually costs more.
- Monthly active users. 100,000 on Pro, then $0.00325 each. For apps with lots of sign-ins, this is often the biggest line.
- Extras. Edge Function invocations above 2 million, Realtime messages above 5 million, and optional add-ons.
How much will Supabase cost for my app?
Our three worked estimates, using Supabase's listed prices as of Oct 26, 2026: about $0 a month for a tiny side project, $25 for a small launched app, and about $208.57 for a growing app with 150,000 monthly active users. These are estimates, not quotes; your real bill depends on actual usage.
All three assume one project, no add-ons, no cached egress, no Edge Function or Realtime overage, and no taxes. These are estimates, not quotes.
| Example app (estimate) | Assumptions | Plan | Estimated monthly cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Tiny side project | 500 MAU, 50 MB database, 1 GB egress, 200 MB files, used weekly | Free | $0 (pauses after 1 week of inactivity) |
| 2. Small launched app | 5,000 MAU, 2 GB database, 30 GB egress, 10 GB files, Micro compute | Pro | $25 |
| 3. Growing app | 150,000 MAU, 20 GB disk, 400 GB egress, 150 GB files, Small compute | Pro | about $208.57 |
Estimate 2, the math. The 2 GB database is over the Free plan's 500 MB, so it needs Pro: $25 plan + $10 Micro compute − $10 compute credit = $25. Everything else is inside Pro's quotas.
Estimate 3, the math:
| Line | Math | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Pro plan | base | $25.00 |
| MAU | (150,000 − 100,000) × $0.00325 | $162.50 |
| Disk | (20 − 8) GB × $0.125 | $1.50 |
| Egress | (400 − 250) GB × $0.09 | $13.50 |
| File storage | (150 − 100) GB × $0.0213 | $1.07 |
| Compute | Small $15 − $10 credit | $5.00 |
| Estimated total | about $208.57 |

In estimate 3, monthly active users are about 78% of the bill. That's the pattern to watch: for most growing apps, users and egress move the bill far more than the plan price does.
How do you keep Supabase costs under control?
Turn on the Spend Cap if you're on Pro, watch the usage page, paginate big queries, and keep your data locked down. Supabase's docs say that with the Spend Cap on, further usage of a covered item is blocked until the next billing cycle, and you aren't charged for over-usage.
What Supabase's cost-control docs (external) say about the Spend Cap (read Oct 26, 2026):
- With it on: "After exceeding the quota for a usage item, further usage of that item is disallowed until the next billing cycle. You don't get charged for over-usage."
- It covers certain items, including disk size, egress, Edge Function invocations, MAU, Realtime and storage size. Compute isn't on that list.
- "This feature is available only with the Pro Plan. However, you will not be charged while using the Free Plan."
- With it off, the docs recommend "monitoring your usage and costs on the organization's usage page."
- It isn't a budget tool: the docs say it "doesn't allow for fine-grained cost control, such as setting budgets for specific usage item or receiving notifications."

Practical habits that keep a bill predictable:
- Paginate and select what you need.
select=*on a big table, loaded on every page view, burns egress. - Resize images before upload. Serving large files is egress.
- Delete projects you've stopped using on paid organizations; each one runs compute.
- Lock down your data. This one is about security as much as cost. A leaked secret or service_role key, or a table your public key can read, lets anyone pull your data, and every pull counts toward your egress. If a secret key leaked, follow Supabase service role key exposed (external). To check what your public key can read, start with what is Supabase RLS? (external)
Before you upgrade or launch, scan your app with Greenlight My App's free scan (external). It checks your public code for keys and settings that shouldn't be there, mistakes that can cost far more than a plan upgrade.
Is Supabase cheaper than Firebase or AWS?
It depends on your usage, and nobody can answer it with one number. As of Oct 26, 2026, Supabase Free is $0 with unlimited API requests, and Firebase's Spark plan is no-cost with daily Firestore read and write caps. For AWS, the answer depends on which services you'd assemble yourself.
Free-plan comparison with Firebase, as listed on each pricing page on Oct 26, 2026:
- Supabase Free: $0, 500 MB database, 5 GB egress, 50,000 MAU, "Unlimited API requests."
- Firebase Spark (pricing (external)): no-cost, "No payment method needed," 1 GiB Firestore stored data, 50K document reads, 20K writes and 20K deletes a day, 10 GiB a month of Firestore egress.
The models differ: Firestore meters every document read and write, while Supabase's Free plan is limited by size, egress and users. Read-heavy apps tend to hit Firestore's daily caps first.
For AWS, we haven't priced a comparable setup, so we won't put a number on it. Supabase is a managed bundle (database, auth, storage, functions) on one bill; building the same on AWS means choosing and pricing each service yourself, plus the time to run them. For tools that charge by usage in other ways, see our breakdowns of Claude API pricing (external) and Claude Code pricing (external).
FAQ
Is Supabase free or paid? Both. As of Oct 26, 2026, Supabase has a Free plan at $0 a month with a 500 MB database, 5 GB egress, 50,000 monthly active users and 2 active projects. Paid plans start with Pro from $25 a month, then Team from $599 and custom Enterprise, with usage charges above included quotas.
Why is Supabase expensive? For most small apps it isn't: our small launched-app estimate was $25 a month. Bills grow with usage, mainly monthly active users, egress and compute. In our growing-app estimate, 150,000 monthly active users made up about 78% of an estimated $208.57. Watch those lines on the usage page.
Is Supabase cheaper than AWS? We can't give one number, because AWS pricing depends on which services you assemble. Supabase bundles a Postgres database, auth, storage and functions on one bill, with a $0 Free plan and Pro from $25 a month as of Oct 26, 2026. On AWS you price and run each piece yourself.
What happens when I hit the free tier limits? Check the usage page in your dashboard. Supabase's cost-control docs say you won't be charged while on the Free plan. To get more room you move the organization to Pro, which raises the quotas, for example to 100,000 MAU and 250 GB egress as of Oct 26, 2026. Free projects also pause after a week of inactivity.
Do free Supabase projects pause? Yes. Supabase's docs say Free plan projects with low activity over a 7-day period are paused, and the pricing page says free projects pause after 1 week of inactivity. You get a warning email about a week before. You can restore a paused project for up to 1 year. Paid-plan projects aren't paused.
Can I set a spending limit? On Pro, yes: the Spend Cap. Supabase's docs say that with it on, further usage of a covered item is blocked until the next billing cycle, and you aren't charged for over-usage. It covers items like egress, disk, storage and MAU, but not compute. It isn't a custom budget or alert tool.
Before you upgrade, check your app
Before you upgrade or launch, scan your app with Greenlight My App's free scan. It checks your public code for keys and settings that shouldn't be there, mistakes that can cost far more than a plan upgrade. It's automated, read-only and educational, not a security audit, and "nothing found" isn't a guarantee that nothing is exposed.
